London-Lutheran Campus Ministry Celebration of 50 years “In Mission To Others”. Come celebrate with us!!
Sunday, June 7th 2009 at Luther House we will be hosting an afternoon of memories. We would really appreciate your attendance. Did you participate in Lutheran Student Movement? Do you remember your days in Lutheran Campus Ministry? We have some interesting photos of “Days Gone Bye” and you may be in one of the many pictures from the 50’s. Drop in a visit us on your way to Luther Hostel at Waterloo Seminary.
Did you know that our National Bishop, Rev. Susan Johnson lived at Luther House when her father Rev. Don Johnson was our Campus Ministry Chaplain at the University of Western Ontario?
Details of our events are with your pastor here in the London Conference – Ontario. If you are out of this area contact us through this site and we will send you the information and an invitation.
This would also be a good time to sign-up for our “Summer Alpha Program” which commences that week.
A quote from Penn Jillette, from the following video placed on YouTube. ”How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize?”. Penn an atheist, comedian, magician and filmmaker, shares how a man, who had seen his show the night before, gave him a Bible.
I have been watching or reading many debates/arguments about evolution vs creation.
Arguing for Evolution, Darwinians. Charles Darwin’s work is now fodder for geneticists and biotechnologists and forensic science and atheists and humanists and naturalists. The relevance to basic science and practical pursuits is the reason for this year’s worldwide celebration of the bicentennial of Darwin’s birth and the sesquicentennial of the publication of his masterwork, “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life”. Also arguing for Evolution are many well known atheists such as Richard Dawkins.
Arguing for Creation, “The Institute for Creation Research” ICR.org for one, and believers of the Bible
As a Lutheran and as a Christian I will quote Martin Luther from about 500 years ago….
“If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking. I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle raqes, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefields besides, is mere fight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
I may not believe in evolution, but I do believe in extinction.
What a wonderful day. Winter is loosening its grip this morning. Temperature has risen above the freezing point and the melt is happening.
I awaken to our new website and I am excited about the prospects.
So here is an opportunity to let us know that you are alive and well here on the world wide web. London Lutheran Campus Ministry would really, really, really like to hear from our old friends. Did you attend the University of Western Ontario and just happen to visit us at Luther House. Perhaps you attended Fanshawe College and visited us. Let us hear from you.
I wish you God’s Peace on this new journey on the web.
In His Service,
Dwight
